Crafting the seed variant (Sunflower Seed) of the Sunflower Seeds.
Sunflower Seeds can be planted directly on tilled dirt, or crafted into the seed variant and then planted on tilled dirt. When the planted seeds mature, breaking the plant will return some Sunflower Seeds.
In later versions, the seed variant seems to be gone from the mod, and the Sunflower Seeds cannot be planted on soil
In this case, the only way to harvest Sunflower Seeds is by plating Sunflowers on soil, and harvesting them with Bone Meal
